Probably best known for being featured in the animated film An American Tail, the song Poor Wandering One was written by Gilbert and Sullivan for the opera, The Pirates of Penzance which premiered in New York City in 1879.
This was my one and only performance as Mabel in the 1998 production by the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts. It was a morning performance, which is why I am sometimes really reaching to hit the high notes.
Nonetheless, I’d say my voice was at its prime at this age (I was 16 years old). The note I hit at about 4:45 is probably the highest note I’ve ever managed to reach onstage while still sounding good.

I had just turned 14. I’m not sure if this was taped in August or September, but I think this was the first day of musical theater class where they asked us to perform our audition song again.
I ran out of breath at the end because my heart was pumping so hard from nervousness. I got much better during these years. I will later upload a performance at the end of junior year of high school. You’ll see much improvement.
Back to homework I go!

It’s weird. I’m 26 and once again I’m back in school after taking a break during the Summer and Fall of 2007 to begin production on the ./shutdown web series. Now, I am enrolled in yet another mass media class (my 3rd now) at Penn State and I will be taking my third (and final!) Spanish class at a local community college. Just got confirmation from Penn that it will transfer. w00t!
It’ll be another couple of years before I graduate, I think. I am only taking two classes per semester, but I am really worried about whether I will be able to pull it off. Right now with just one online class at Penn and a full time job I’m only having to stay up about an hour later. However, starting next week I will be going to my Spanish class two evenings a week. In February, David and I will start writing season 2 of the show and then in March we’ll be starting production again.
I am dreading March and April the most. I honestly don’t know if I will be able to handle two full time jobs plus school part-time. I consider the show a full time job since production time means editing every night and shooting almost every weekend. Yet, at the same time I am very frustrated that I can’t handle school full time anymore. I am really in a rush now that I have decided I want to go to graduate school.
Ah well. Take it one day at a time, as they say.

Was checking out the MySpace page for Lala (of Tiki Bar TV fame) and it appears she has a new pinup calendar for sale online. I love the style of it (seems to be a mix of real photography and touch-up to look like pinup art). I am so tempted to get this.
I met Lala at CES last year when I directed a special for Tiki Bar TV in addition to live episodes with other podcasters like Geek Entertainment TV, JETSET and Pure Pwnage. I hope she is doing well. I saw ads for some show on CBC that she is hosting so it seems she’s doing well. Yay for Lala. She’s a sweetheart.

Watch the Tiki Bar Live @ CES special I directed in January 2007.

Second year in a row. Had so much fun with Flounder, Zog and J9. However, this will probably be our last year going to a Brotherhood New Year’s party. They don’t play enough good 80s music. I didn’t hear a single Madonna or Michael Jackson song. It’s like they purposefully were playing the B-sides to a bunch of New Wave bands or something. I only have 5 hours to compact an entire decade into an enjoyable dancing experience. Come on, people!

Nothing says “success” like a random ass forum thread with a giant picture of you embedded and quoted over and over again.
Would You Tap That? (Possibly NSFW)
Apparently Jonathan London (whom I’ve worked with at CES and Comic-Con) told Ben Cote at Stage6, who then forwarded it to me. O_o

Co means “aunt” in Vietnamese, although technically I think she’s my second cousin? In Vietnamese culture, you don’t really think of relations in those terms. It’s more a ranking by seniority. Because she is in the same generation as my mom she is “Co” which means “Aunt younger than my mom.” I could go in more detail, but I won’t.
She texted me these awesome pictures. I had to screen grab them off the computer, but they are awesome nonetheless. From left: Isabella is the one on the left and Xander’s on the right in the picture where they are both celebrating the New Year together! They were born a couple of months premature. Hopefully in a few weeks, they will get to go home. ^_^

Here are a couple of pics we took before the Fetish Ball in Hollywood (December 28, 2007). No cameras were allowed inside the event (where I had mentioned I saw a fetish model slapped with a fish by Midori). Flounder didn’t like the pictures of him, but you can see him pre-leathered out in the video below. “Good times” as people like to say… Ugh… I hate that phrase.

Tricking Ben Paddon. He thinks I’m taking a picture.
