Greetings from Las Vegas - CES 2007: Episode Two
Today was a fun, productive day at CES. I directed two live tapings on the Stage6 stage. One was an episode for Geekscape, starring GS host Jonathan London and special guest-starring DivX’s own Ben Cote and Mattzog Bellucci. A fellow named Kevin from the audience was also invited, mid-taping, to come up and co-host with the gang.
Later in the day, we taped a live interview with the creators of GETV (Geek Entertainment TV). They covered some good topics in terms of the future of video blogging and distribution for podcasters. You’ll be able to watch these episodes tomorrow on Stage6.

to bite the head off of yours truly (me).

through just before a live taping of Geekscape.
Don’t forget to check out my photo Comic Blog of the weekend before CES where we setup the sweet DivX booth and prepared the stage. I plan to make Episode 2 of the comic blog when I can find the time and energy. I may shoot for tomorrow, but I may wait until Thursday night. Speaking of tomorrow, I am looking forward to taping a special performance by some members of Pure Pwnage! That will be so cool. I met “Jeremy” and “Kyle” today. You have to watch Episode 12 of their show to discover their true names. They seem like pretty standup guys and I look forward to the taping. I will be sure to take lots of pictures tomorrow.
Actually, I should point out that “taping” is sort of an archaic term right about now. We’re shooting the show with two different cameras, the Panasonic HVX-200 and a Sony HDV camera. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to get them to look the same, but the sweet thing is that I am using the brand spanking new Black Magic On-Air software that allows me to do live technical directing via a virtual switcher (this is how shows like Letterman and the local news are shot and edited). The software is great because it takes two seperate HDMI feeds from each camera at full HD quality! The problem is the software is so new, we’re running into some problems. We have to fiddle with each box for a few minutes each day we setup, or else the feed comes in with green picture. Also, it is dropping frames so I am having to go in and manually resync the audio. ALSO, it’s pushing the frame off to the right slightly, so I will have to crop it when I encode it to DivX to put online at Stage6.
Anyhoo, better go take a shower. I have another long day tomorrow with Pure Pwnage and Jet Set Show, live at the DivX Stage6 stage at CES! See you there!
