Archived from my old Xanga blog:
If you live anywhere in east Chula Vista, California, you may be unaware you are in a new fire zone! If you live near the Otay Ranch or Eastlake area, please call your local police department.
My friend, Rudy lives near the Palomar/La Media corner and his mom (CVPD dispatcher) was told not to come to work and to evacuate her house. They are leaving right now. Police are patrolling the area, but have NOT alerted the general public. Temporary shelter is already being set up at Bonita High School.
MONDAY CORRECTION: The fire is actually at the Otay Lakes/Otay MesaPeople in Eastlake should be able to see the fire from their homes so PRACTICE PRECAUTION. Call the authorities and ask them if you need to evacuate. Don’t wait for them to call you! The news is doing a poor job of covering this so you may not even know Southwestern College and Bonita High School are closed to students Monday.
I am worried for my friends in the area and have already called them. I hope this post might help anyone else. I’m in L.A. right now so there’s little I can do. I received all this information from Rudy’s mom. If you know anyone in Eastlake/Otay Ranch, please let them know! Better safe than sorry. The TV news so far hasn’t bothered to tell anyone about the two new fires down there so help out and spread the word.
