My movie, Safety With Scissors, is an official selection at the Imperial Beach Film Festival
This film is almost two years old and will retire after this last screening. You can view it around 12:20pm on Sunday, October 5th if you are in the San Diego, California area.
More info is at my website: www.FudgeFilms.com.
It’s sad. I can’t go to this screening because that is the day I am taking cast/crew of my 80s film (Neon Life) to Sea World for a day of fun and to get to know one another. Ah well.
Perhaps this is symbolic of my move from Fudgecake Productions to Neon Life Entertainment. ![]()

Another busy, but enjoyable, week. I’ll be sure to reply to your comments when I get back from Mexico. I’m shooting tomorrow and will be back on Monday. Giancarlo (the actor in “Virus”) is supposedly picking me up at 9 tonight after striking the set for his play. I saw it last night and it was great. He also told me that the “Insecto” footage came out great. For non-regular readers, that is the super-16mm film he directed that I was the cinematographer for. I am so happy.
Okay, so anyway I had a few costume design meetings that were very fun and productive. We also have a better idea of the set design for TV Show #1 regarding Neon Life. Yay.

[Above]Our costume designer hard at work looking for vintage 80s clothes today.
No, but really she is finding some great combinations for the wardrobes. The shirt we found today, she is going to tint a dark shade of purple and add a couple of steel rings to the shoulders.
The storyboards look awesome for The Killing Zoo’s music video. Michael did a great job on them. Our costume designer can’t wait to start working on the outfits. They’re not what you’d expect. Anyway, it’s nice to have the same crew working on my different projects. It makes things easier, more streamlined, etc.
Should I say her name? I feel like she’ll get offended. She doesn’t want to be judged by her name, rather her design brand: Spilt Silk. I can’t go around calling her spilt silk! What to do!
Neon Life Entertainment’s corporate identity is almost finished. Many thanks to our very generous and talented friend at The Designer’s Sandbox. I will post up the final graphic for the business card when it’s ready.
The new home of the company’s site will be www.NeonLifeEnt.com aight? So I have to go shower, pack, then get my photographer-type stuff together for the shoot. Byeeeee.

Lame. Sorry, guys. I saw your comments about how you can’t find my photo album. I told you to search for my name when you actually have to search for my username which is “ap.levox”. That should do the trick. Sorry. ![]()
Okay, so I’m heading out tomorrow night with Raul (producer) to L.A. We’ll stay at my mom’s. We’re meeting with my lead actress Saturday morning to take pictures of her for the website (you’ll see when it debuts). I also want to show her some Cure and Depeche Mode music videos, give her some books for reference and just get to know her and her mom (the actress is 13).
I think getting to know her will help me in my writing. After that, we’re going to meet with Michael, the art director to discuss some things for the film (production design and the website) and for the music video we’re shooting in November (probably conceptualize and hopefully storyboard).
Crazy. I have so much to do tomorrow. It makes me nervous. It’s 1:36 am and I still have to shower and dry my hair (unless I like the afro look) and then I have a 6 hour studio class tomorrow at 9am. Right after I have to get some stuff from a friend’s house, come home and try to write a donation type document to give my mom so she can solicit donations from her friends for the film. I also have to wash clothes both for myself and for the actress (got some stuff she could wear). If there is time, after I pick up Raul we’ll stop by Torrence’s and borrow his lighting kit for the photo shoot. Hope I don’t forget anything! My shoulders hurt.

Due to stress from all the film-related work, I will take a break and make a post that is non-film related for the most part.
Pictures from my birthday party last month. Stupid web a photo won’t let me link to the pictures so you’ll have to go there to see them.
www.webaphoto.com and run a search for “ap.levox” to see the album.
Remember to keep checking www.neonlifemovie.com. The structure will be finished in a few weeks. Then we move on to building content.

Thanks for all the very informative and encouraging comments, guys. I will reply to you all when I get back. I have to go shoot the pickups for “Virus” this weekend in Mexico.
Israel, the director, is waiting to pick me up right now. I still need to shower and get my cinematographers gear together. Ugh, I am so exhausted. Six hour TV Studio class from 9am to 3pm and then straight to a long costume design meeting for “Neon Life” until 10:30pm, but very fun and so productive.
It really inspires me to see such talented and able people willing to put their work in my film. I wish I could explain how well things went today and how good the actor looked in the clothes, but like I said I am keeping the production diaries brief and with little detail from now on concerning non-technical aspects of “Neon Life.” You’ll understand why in a year or so.
Oh, and the Neon Life Movie Site domain is officially parked. Hurrah! Good job, Michael! See you all Monday! ![]()

We’re hard at work on the Neon Life website which is temporarily docked with our Aplus host. Well, actually the Designers Sandbox is hard at work. Once the structure is complete in late September, Raul and I will be dedicating some long days to building content for the site. It’s going to be:
www.neonlifemovie.com
As I said, once the site is up, all production diary entries will go up there although as the film progresses the more I think I am going to keep the entries private only giving necessary details on the internet.
Once the site is up, updates on here will be more related to other non-Neon Life related information such as the Killing Zoo music video I am set to shoot in November. We are working with Michael again (Video Post Digital and J’Rendevouz) to make a sleek and impressive, but story-driven video.
Okay, so for Neon Life, Raul (producer) and I are meeting with Heather (costume designer) and William (lead singer) on Friday to look at some vintage clothing that might work with her existing wardrobe sketches. I am also working on the script, as I am meeting the lead actress in two weekends to work on her character a bit and to incorporate who she is as a person into the story. I am also meeting with Michael concerning the neon life site, art direction and storyboarding for the Killing Zoo video.
I have a lot of writing to do. I wish I had this weekend to do it, but I am finally shooting pick ups for Virus with Israel. It will be nice to get it out of the way though. I love how it looks so far and will be proud to put it on my cinematographer demo reel.
Phew. Okay, I’m tired and tomorrow is a long day so that’s it for now really. If you’re wondering where I’m going with this, by the end of this school year I plan to have a much more impressive demo reel on my hands, both as a director and a cinematographer.
One of the three stipulations Michael had concerning working on the KZ music video (and yes he’s talented enough to give out requirements) was that sometime within a year he wants me sending my demo reel out to music video agencies. I never knew much about them, or that they existed until Michael told me.
He’s worked on that fancy post production graphics stuff for such videos with such agencies so if he thinks I should do it, I definitely will!
I’m still waiting on that commercial gig I got. I hope they tell me soon when I need to shoot it and for what book so that I can schedule it in (which will be scary considering my packed schedule as it is).
