Stills from some of the first Shamu Shows I taped alone at camera. The first is from July 17th. Stills from every show this summer are available at http://www.shamu.com/Html/California_Photos.html
Have fun! I need to download all these pics (at least the ones I took). My last weekend is the next one so I am bringing a DVC Pro tape and having the control room record all of my camera work so I can put together a reel.
So much has happened lately, but there has been no time to post about it. The Neon Life website will be up eventually. It’s being designed by a friend over at Designer’s Sandbox and it is going to look GREAT. Once it’s running I will be posting my production log on there. Not on here anymore
Thursday we went to the Dave Gahan concert. It was great! Before that I took William (of Emodica and playing lead singer of Le Vox in Neon Life) to see Heather who is our potential costume designer. She took his measurements when we visited her at her work.
The funny part is I guess I forgot to mention to William that this was the purpose of visiting her so it was quite funny when he had to stand outside the Coffee Bean with his arms out and then getting his inseam measured by Heather in front of everyone including a group of guys staring at us at a table three feet away. I took pictures…
I hope he doesn’t read this and delete the pictures since they’re on his camera.
It was momentous because that was the first time I took official Neon Life related pictures. They will go on the new website when it’s ready.
Wednesday, Raul (one of my producers) and I drove up to Long Beach to meet with the art director, Michael. The meeting was very encouraging. The same day we held an audition with a potential actress. I wanted to meet with her before setting appointments with any other people concerning the lead role because I was impressed with her professionalism at such a young age.
On Saturday, Raul and I called her and told her she has the part. We’ve found our heroine!
Speaking of Saturday, I held my 22nd birthday party that day at Aunt Emilia’s. It started off a little slow, but ended being a lot of fun. Israel showed up with a VHS copy of VIRUS so I finally got to see it! It was a little nerve-wracking to see it in front of everyone else, but it came out looking great! It’s my best work so far (as a cinematographer)! Yay!
He needs to get me a DV copy so I can use it for my reel. Andy called me yesterday also in response to my slightly annoyed email and phone message asking why he didn’t tell me he telecine’d The Orange Project and didn’t even tell me it came out well. So another score for Michelle, the Director of Photography.
I’ll probably have to call and bug him again so I can get a DV copy of that too. It’s alright though since only now with my new computer will I have time to edit a new demo reel.
Yay! I ordered my DVX100 camera! This means by October I’m ready to shoot a couple of music videos. I will start with Cheerleader Suicide by Raul’s new band, The Killing Zoo. Then I will do one for Emodica! It will give me a chance to get to know my new camera, plus I’ve been just dying to make some music videos and see if I have the right stuff.
Tamra Davis, who directed Billy Madison and started out making music videos advises that you should only do videos if you like the song and can become a fan of the music group. That’s not a problem. I like their music and am very excited about these two projects.
Plenty to do right now. I also got more financing for Neon Life so we’ve doubled our budget, plus I want to raise even more money so we have enough to do a good job with the sets and promotion afterwards.
Well, I start school again tomorrow and I don’t even know where my classes are at so I ought to go. My first class is at 8am!!!! I know. It’s insane since I’m not a morning person, but that was the only time I could fit in a photography class and I think it will help immensely.
Just giving an update. Ta Ta and all that jazz.
