Archived from my old Xanga blog:
How bittersweet. My PSA didn’t get into Best Fest…
But APPETITE FOR LOVE did! YAY!
Even if Appetite for Love wins the main prize, there’s no prize money. The PSA contest had a $1000 first prize so I am bummed. Ah well, filmmaking was never for the money. However, it would have been nice considering my current financial situation.
Not winning at JACC this year (journalism conference) almost bummed me out, but I had a talk with someone who made me feel alot better and instead of giving up, I want to help, make the paper as good as it used to be (we didn’t win General Excellence this year). Maybe even better! So I will be trying for an editor position at the Southwestern Sun next year!
While journalism has little to do with narrative filmmaking, I learned alot that helps. For instance, I sent out a press release of sorts just now on a whim announcing Appetite for Love’s big screen premiere at Best Fest!
I hate my job, but at least other things are looking up. Unfortunately, academia calls. It is almost 3 in the morning and I have two midterms tomorrow (worked at the video store today until 1am). So I better go study.
I have a high B in Psychology and that is totally unacceptable. I need to get more serious. People look at me weird when I complain about having a B. That is because I know I can do better. Plus, I see people around me not trying hard enough at their school work! Don’t they realize studying is a FREE way to eventually make better money???
Good grades never hurt, whether you want to be a doctor or an artist! I need scholarships, to go to a good school, etc. GRADES ARE IMPORTANT! Learning is important in general too. Okay, I am ranting now.
Gots to go study.
