Wowzers and Zoiks. It’s been way too long since I’ve posted so I suppose I ought to try to get back into the groove.
What’s up with me? I’ve worked on several other short films lately. I did another director of photography gig for an experimental horror shot on 16mm color in Mexico, was assistant director for a spy drama on Digital Video and was camera operator for a racy short film shot on super 16mm a month ago.
After much thought, I’ve decided that I’m going to cut down on the filmmaking for awhile. My academic pursuits are also very important to me and I need to focus on my studies. My grades are great, but I need to keep them that way and add another course or two to each semester so I can eventually transfer to the University of San Diego which is now where I want to go. Because the school is expensive and not easy to get into I need to focus the next year to academia and extra curricular activities (like the newspaper and the film club).
This means less filmmaking, but in the end it will hopefully pay off in a scholarship or two???? Besides, I think I have a pretty good grasp of the production process. Now, I need to spend more time working on the story and the writing as a whole. So I will limit myself to a few video productions that are more character driven.
I’m also going to be starting singing lessons (Dad’s paying for half) because I’ve gotten so out of practice and I realize I’d like to do a little stage work again like I used to. Well, that and not to mention the fact that USD offers a $7500 scholarship to students who make it into the honors choir: Choral Scholars Program (those with 3.0+ GPA and pass the auditions).
Phew, so that’s what is up with me right now. Still have my job at school which is really fun and productive. Later in Spring I’ll be trying for a camera operator position at Sea World (summer job).
Everyone, let me know how you are doing. Within the next few days I will be checking out the weblogs of those who left comments for my previous post so that I may respond accordingly.
Shpadoinkle,
Michelle
