Running with Scissors: Post Production

Man oh man. I was shooting for an ultra ultra low budget film, but I am getting so broke. Yeah, I know my classmate spent 3 grand on his short so I should be proud I am making it under the 200 dollar mark, but still. Forking over more than 30 bux just to FedEx my film to Fotokem today really bummed me out. It will be 93 bux to Telecine my processed negative to tape and about 22 bux for stock. SHEESH. Ten bux for Telecine prep and 45 bux for the actual processing.

Imagine if I were editing and printing on FILM!!!!

I just hope my footage comes out decently. I’d hate to think I drained my bank account for something not even worthy enough to submit (as my first 16mm short) to festivals.

Speaking of fests, I looked around for the ones with the cheapest submisison fees (or had great discounts for students) and it seems like I will be able to enter 11 festivals for 60 bux (plus cost of shipping the tapes). This is so cheap because several of the festivals are free in general, or free for students. The Roma International Film Festival in Italy is only 5 bux for submitting student films. I doubt I will get in with my cheesy, first-timer flick, but hey its only 5 bucks. Worth a try, right?

Adrian wants me to play Princess Naeia in Chocolate Wars. Sounds hilarious. I’ll do it. Rafael is sick, but he says after he gets better (or an operation, whichever comes first), the experimental film will go through. I met (thru Indie Club) someone named Cafe. He seems cool and wants me to work on a music video with him. That sounds promising also. He seems like he’d be a fun person to know. I am enjoying directing, some crew work, and the occasional acting role. I just know things are going to get really stressful in about a week when everyone’s going to want to go into production PLUS I need to get my film edited and locked to send to Robert in England to score to meet the December film festival deadlines.

Phew!!!!
